Who doesn’t love Tin Tin? (Don’t tell me if you don’t. We just adore him and his darling hairdo. And Snowy, too. My two-year-old calls him “Nowy.”)
We were first introduced to Tin Tin when the new movie came out last year. The girls loved it so much, we started to buy the old comics. They read them voraciously. I couldn’t buy them fast enough.
Not only have they been fun and fascinating to read, they have been quite the history lesson and have provoked many unexpected discussions on history, as well as historical prejudices and social issues. (They were written beginning in the 1930’s…a much different time and social structure than my kids are used to.)
Just some random thoughts on how learning happens in unexpected places.
